Cladding joints that become wasp habitat

Nests in the envelope

A nest over the door does not wait for Saturday.

Wasps at the door, the deck, the play area. We remove the nest, then screen the void so July is not an annual invoice.

The organism, then the joint

A wasp nest in a soffit is not a landscaping event. It is an open void with a warm cavity behind it. Knocking the nest and leaving the screen off is how July becomes an annual invoice.

What we actually do

  • Remove the nest with occupancy-appropriate methods — often after hours for schools and civic sites.
  • Screen the void. That is the product.
  • Document so facilities know which elevation was the habitat.

Questions

About wasps

Do you guarantee they won’t come back?

We guarantee the nest we were hired to remove is gone, and the opening we closed is closed. An unscreened soffit two bays over is still a rental. That is why we photograph the elevation, not just the nest.

The hole

A nest over the door the night before people come over is not a wait-and-see problem. The deck is already lost.

If we go

Guests use the deck. The void is screened so July is not an annual invoice.
